Learning laboratories

Our educational laboratories take place in specially equipped classrooms, with a tactile tank, analytical instruments and stereoscopic microscopes, which allow the three-dimensional observation of both biological materials and live planktonic organisms.
We have an educational laboratory on the ground floor and a new one on the first floor, equipped with microscopes, where students can - during the teaching activity - experience the thrill of closely observing some specimens of the marine microcosm.

The minimum number of participants for this activity is 15 paying persons.

Are you afraid of sharks? Become a little shark! Find out how these animals live all day underwater, you will know their friends and enemies, prey and predators, discovering that behind their sharp teeth there are many new friends to save!

Water is the element that makes life possible! Through playful and interactive experiences, children discover that life on Earth began in the sea and that, just like all living beings, they too started their journey underwater, immersed in the maternal womb. 
This parallel helps develop an emotional connection with the marine environment, understanding the importance of keeping water clean through small everyday actions that help marine organisms live better by reducing human-caused pollution. 
Stories, games, and hands-on activities will allow them to build an initial ecological awareness, based on empathy, responsibility, and care for our common good, the sea!

The laboratory lasts 1h 30' and costs Euro 3,50 per student (in addition to the entrance ticket) - Entrance and activity free for teachers. The partecipation to the activity is linked to the entrance ticket

Equally getting to know marine creatures directly helps to fix concepts and create the right awareness to change things!
In a tank specially set up for the activity, students will have the opportunity to observe animal and plant marine organisms, classify them, analyze their characteristics and, through an expert guide, learn the right way to relate to them, without causing harm to them nor to ourselves.

In this way there will be no more secrets between us and the inhabitants of the sea.

The 5 senses are fundamental to know the reality that surrounds us! What if we happen to be blindfolded? Will we be able in any case to recognize the sea and its creatures?

In this sensory workshop, through a series of guided experiences, original and funny, it will be possible to acquire a greater sensitivity necessary to recognize, through Taste, Touch, Smell and Hearing, environments and life forms, discovering features never considered.

The Laboratory lasts 1h and cost Euro 3,00 per student (in addition to the entrance ticket)

Posidonia oceanica is the lungs of the Mediterranean Sea, but its dry leaves often fill the beaches sending a bad smell. Today, thanks to the idea of a master papermaker (Lea Bilanci), it is possible to transform this waste of vegetable fibers into paper. Come and learn this ancient art together with the ecological value of this underwater plant, the sheet handcrafted from class to class will be a witness that symbolizes the ecological commitment that we will take on from then on.

How do we distinguish a predator from a prey? What are the specific characteristics that make an infallible predator? As scientific police technicians, we investigate together through anatomical models, scientific findings and biological preparations, analyzing scale by scale these wonderful animals, not necessarily equipped with sharp teeth, but more often with superfine intelligence.

This is an activity that combines scientific learning, role-playing, direct observation of aquatic organisms, and civic education. Students won't just get familiar with the concepts of bioaccumulation and biomagnification of contaminants along the food chain; they'll also experience firsthand the "boomerang effect" between our wrong behaviors towards the environment and the consequent impact on our health. According to the "One Health" principle, we and the environment are the same, so everything we do to save or protect the environment we live in is actually done to ensure our future survival.
