The mission of Livorno Aquarium is to inform and raise the general public wareness on the conservation, management and sustainable use of aquatic environments, so as to promote a positive and responsible approach to them.
This commitment received official recognition when the aquarium was granted in 2012 the status of “Scientific Institution” by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Policies.
Acquario di Livorno is also an Information Point of the Tuscan Observatory for Biodiversity, and a Recovery and Rehabilitation Center for sea turtles.
